In light of the recent Supreme Court decision that overturned Roe vs. Wade, we wanted to reach out to our community. The decision to remove legal protection for a woman’s right to choice and bodily autonomy is in direct conflict with what we at NextUp have always advocated, which is equal access to career paths, pay, health care, flexibility, and family leave policies so that all women can participate fully in the workplace. We recognize that the implications of this decision will disproportionately impact communities of color, the economically disadvantaged, and the LGBTQIA+ community.
We as a NextUp community have always been committed to welcoming all, celebrating diversity, and embracing a diversity of perspectives. We appreciate that our 15,000+ members have diverse viewpoints and experiences on this topic, which is why we commit to providing open doors and safe spaces for dialogue. We have always welcomed and celebrated a diversity of perspectives, and will continue to do so.
We pledge to support our own NextUp staff by ensuring that they have full access to appropriate medical care, no matter where they live. We also commit to providing mental health resources to those colleagues experiencing trauma triggered by this decision.
As the legal situation evolves, we will continue to be here to help inform, educate, and guide our members and partners. We will work to point our community to expert resources, guidance, and best practices to help make the decisions that will enable us all to create more equitable workplaces that advance all women.
